Whether you are venturing out to hike, bike or view local
wildlife, it’s important to stay safe while you are out there.
Florida Master Naturalist Roger Fulton would like to help you
enjoy those outdoor experiences while also keeping you and
your family safe and sound. In a practical presentation, along
a two mile walking tour on both paved and unpaved trails, he
will share his vast experience in the outdoors with
participants. He will provide an overview of how to stay found
in the woods, how to read trail markings and what to do if you
temporarily lose your way. He will talk about how to prepare
for your outing with the proper equipment and basic knowledge
of the outdoors environment. He will also discuss those hiking
hazards unique to Florida such as what to do if you encounter
an alligator, a snake, a bear or a feral hog during your
outing. Wear hiking boots or walking shoes, insect repellent
and bring water. Heavy rain cancels.
Roger Fulton is a Florida Master Naturalist and the author of
several hiking, biking and wildlife viewing guides for Central
and Northeastern Florida. A limited number of his books will
be available for purchase and signing at the hike.
